Third Places

“Third places such as coffee shops, community centers, and beauty salons are homes away from home in which people gather to socialize and engage with familiar strangers” (Oldenburgh, 1989). "Third places are essential to our societies. Through encouraging and supporting repetitive and serendipitous encounters, they tie together individuals in communities and strengthen the sense of community." (Calderon et al, 2013).
